Soil health, backup crops, and seed saving reduce how badly a bad season hurts you — none of it replaces the income or food a genuinely wiped-out harvest represents if you depend on what you grow. If that's your situation, look into whatever crop or agricultural insurance is actually available where you farm, and do the paperwork before planting, not after a drought or flood has already taken the season — most policies won't cover a loss that's already happened.
