Smart-home devices aren't the only everyday object quietly collecting data — many newer cars log detailed location history, driving behavior, and phone contacts synced over Bluetooth, and some can record in-cabin audio or video, tied to a manufacturer account most owners set up once during delivery and never looked at again. Check your car's own privacy settings and the automaker's connected-services account (not just the phone app) for what's actually being collected, what's shared with insurers or third parties, and whether any of it can be turned off — especially before selling or trading the car in, since a paired account can otherwise keep working for the new owner.
