People-search and data-broker websites compile your home address, phone number, relatives, and past addresses from public records, then sell access to anyone who searches your name. Most offer an opt-out process, but it's rarely advertised and has to be done site by site. Search your own name periodically, and work through opt-out requests for whatever turns up — it won't remove everything, but it closes some of the easiest doors.
