Know which crops actually survive a light frost before you panic-harvest

Not everything in the garden needs to be pulled the moment frost is forecast. Cold-hardy crops like kale, carrots, and brassicas tolerate a light frost fine — some, like kale and parsnips, actually get sweeter from it as the plant converts starches to sugar. Tender crops like tomatoes and basil are the ones that genuinely need protecting or harvesting first. Knowing the difference means you're not stripping the whole garden the night before a frost that wouldn't have hurt half of it.
