You can't tell how deep flood water is by looking at it, and you can't tell what's under it either — a washed-out road looks the same as a solid one. Just a foot of moving water can float and sweep away most cars. If you reach a flooded road, turn around and find another way instead of trying to guess whether it's shallow enough to cross.
