Know the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning before you run a generator indoors

Carbon monoxide from a generator, camp stove, or space heater run indoors — or even in an attached garage — can build up before you smell anything, because it has no smell at all. Headache, dizziness, confusion, and nausea are the early warning signs; if anyone in the house has them during an outage, get outside into fresh air first and ask questions after. Never run a generator inside, in a garage, or near an open window.
